Kolomoki Mounds State Park

Kolomoki Mounds

Kolomoki Mounds State Park features seven mounds near Blakely (off US 27) that constitute the Kilomoki site, which thrived between AD 1000 to 1300 with the Swift Creek and Weeden Island Indians. The mounds include Georgia's oldest temple mound, two burial mounds and four ceremonial mounds. A museum display reenacts the kind of funeral ceremony, which resulted in the construction of one of the mounds.
